A VIEW OF THE WORLD THROUGH MY CAMERA LENS

My First !

This is my first real attempt at Macro Insects. While these two are some very modest shots (I am learning….so…thank you for your understanding), I would love to hear something from you…an advice, maybe some tips…your critique and comments.

I am fascinated for a while now by Macro. I love the idea of getting really close and capturing that unique and beautiful detail that we usually overlook or is just not so visible. So hopefully more and better shots will follow.

  1. The picture on the bottom (which is called a flesh fly) is definitely the better shot for a couple of reasons. Firstly it is facing towards the camera unlike the other which is facing away. And the second is of course the beautiful red eyes which attract the eye and make the photo more interesting.

Oddly enough my post on my blog tonight will be about a photo of a flesh fly. Funny coincidence…

  2. Lovely macros!

I’m not even close to an expert on these things, but I think the reason people seem to be leaning towards the second photo– (1) the subject fills the frame better; (2) the composition of background items is more interesting; (3) the purple background blob in the first one is a little distracting; (4) the lighting seems a little less harsh and more attractive. They’re both nice shots– I’d be proud to have produced either one of them, myself!

  5. I really enjoyed the second in this set! I am no fan of bugs, but the clarity and definition is amazing! Great Job! Curious… how long did it take you to get this? Was it a quick snap or did you set up and just wait for the perfect specimen? or did you use sugar or something to coax said bugs to hang around?
    regardless… well done! 🙂

    O zi faina! 🙂
